Welcome to the September 2023 Picture Books New Release Spotlight! This is a new concept I’m trying this month, so please feel free to send me your feedback. The idea is to make it more efficient for me and to keep all new September 2023 picture book releases in one convenient place.
Early chapter books may also appear in this list, but there are none of those on this first week of the Spotlight. Stay tuned!
This post has four parts. I’ve linked each below for easy reference, but they are also linked in the body of this post.
Please keep in mind that this is a work-in-progress! All four sections on this page will be continually updated throughout September 2023. Usually, picture book updates to the Spotlight are my weekend project, so look for updates to this list on Monday mornings.
PART I: GOOGLE SLIDES PRESENTATION
The first part of the New Release Spotlight is the Google Slides presentation. This is downloadable, editable, and FREE!
The Google Slides presentation includes each book’s publisher’s summary, genre, setting, grade levels, themes, protagonist description, and any notes I might need to add.
This presentation is great to play on a loop in the library! Trust me, students and teachers will ask for some of the books, which to me is the #1 best way to develop a student-centered collection.
I will be adding to the Google presentation in real time, so you will see additions throughout the month of September. For picture books, those updates are most likely to happen on the weekends. If you download the presentation early in the month, don’t forget to come back to re-download to get the full Spotlight at the end of September.
Click here to download the presentation. Click “Use Template” in the
top-right corner to make an editable copy for your own Google Drive.
PART II – Printable List of Books
You can download a printable list from this Google page. Again, the list will be updated throughout the month, so you might want to wait until the end of the month to get the entire list.
The printable list also includes YA and middle grade titles, all sorted by genre. You will need to scroll to the last slide to see the picture book list.
PART III – The Ginormous
Since October 2019, I have added the New Release Spotlight books to The Ginormous Booklist. This is a huge Google spreadsheet that currently has over 3400 titles for K-12.
I will continue to add information from the September Spotlight titles to The Ginormous.
PART IV – Book Covers and Amazon Links
The last part of the September 2023 Chapter Books and Picture Book Spotlight is a sorting area by genre and topic. This is the part I’m still working over in my mind, so this part may change as the month continues. Remember that I am working in real time with this post all month, so it will change over the next few weeks.
The cover images below are clickable Amazon Affiliate links. If you use them to make a purchase, I will get a small commission from your purchase.
I don’t make much from Amazon each month. I don’t include the Amazon links to make money on this post.
I include the links below so you can see the book covers without scrolling through the whole presentation and to help you locate the right books. As the month goes on, the presentation will get longer. If you just need the ISBN or information about the book, you can get it from the Amazon link.
